Setup guide
About five minutes. No account, no email, and no Wi-Fi needed once the app is installed.
Teachers: print this page and send it home with each family's code.
At home
- Install LittleNest Learning on an iPhone or iPad and open it.
- Tap Add a child and answer the grown-up check. Enter a first name or initial, an age range, and let your child pick an animal.
- Open Grown-ups → Settings and choose a lesson length. Five minutes is a good start.
- Not sure where to start? Grown-ups → Child profiles → Where to start runs a two-minute check and suggests a week.
- Tap your child's animal. Today's lesson is a letter sound and a word to slide across, then a trace, a short story, and a color.
- On Fridays the week comes back with a short Sound game. It's just a game for your child.
- See how it's going under Grown-ups → Progress: lessons finished this week, the days they practiced, and the sounds they know.
In a classroom
- On the class iPad, add each child with a first name or initial and an animal. Real names can stay on your own list.
- Tap Teacher on the first screen and answer the grown-up check.
- Under Lesson place, set the whole class, or one child, to a week.
- Class progress puts the children who have been away longest first. Tap a child to see what they finished and the sounds they know.
- Pick a Note for home. The code under it carries that note and the lesson place.
- Give each family their child's code, on a slip or in a message.
- When a family gives you a progress code back, type it into that child's row to see their home practice.
Linking home and class
There are no accounts, so a teacher and a family link up by swapping short codes. A grown-up types each one in.

Codes never carry a name, free text, or anything about health, and the app never sends them on its own. A new code replaces the last one, so share a fresh one each week or two. See the privacy policy for details.
Good to know
- Free to start: the first two weeks of reading and the first activity in every Explore area are free for good. One payment through the iOS App Store opens the rest for the whole family.
- A new device: Restore purchase brings back the unlock. Progress stays on the device it was earned on, so share a progress code first if a teacher is following along.
- Sound: if an iPhone is quiet, check the switch on the side of the phone.
